Easy way to catch some crucian crap.
Join me on a delightful angling journey as we explore the easy and enjoyable way to catch crucian carp. Finding the right fishing spot is crucial, and I was fortunate enough to stumble upon a great place where you can catch this awesome fish.
For bait, I decided on half a pint of mixed maggots, and some micro pellets from my previous fishing session. To enhance the appeal for crucian carp, I added a touch of f1 sweet sticky syrup, as the F! love sweet baits.
With my whip and maggots as bait, I was catching plenty of small perch.. To my delight, I noticed fish activity near the upper layers of the water. Every time I threw maggots around my float, big swirls appeared, and the occasional perch leaped out of the water showing that the fish might feed in the upper layers. While catching small perch was enjoyable, my primary goal was to catch some crucian carp. Patience paid off when I noticed a distinct bite, completely different from the usual perch take where the float shots of like a rocket, this time the float went up then flat and went sideways It was evident that this was no perch! With a swift strike, I realized that the battle would be more challenging than expected. After an intense battle I successfully landed a large crucian carp, possibly the biggest I had ever caught. Mission accomplished, but I wanted more. As the whip predominantly attracted baby perch, I decided to give my feeder rod a chance to shine. Opting for a small cage feeder with maggots as hook bait, positioned around 8 meters a bit to my right, I anticipated bigger catches. While I did manage to entice some lovely bream, those mischievous perch also took a liking to the bait, leaving little room for larger fish on the feed, I switched to a method feeder with a 6mm pink wafter hook bait. Success! Bites came one after another , with the majority being crucian carp, accompanied by decent-sized bream.Though my fishing adventure lasted just three hours, it was a memorable and fruitful experience. The combination of whip and feeder techniques ensured a steady stream of catches, leaving me eagerly anticipating my return to Snitterfield reservoir. Next time, armed with my match gear, I look forward to spending more time on the water, hoping to see the full potential of this place
In conclusion catching crucian carp doesn't have to be a complicated endeavour. By finding the right fishing spot, embracing simplicity in preparations, and adapting to the conditions, you can enjoy an interactive and fulfilling angling experience. Snitterfield reservoir proved to be a magical setting, brimming with diverse fish species. So grab your gear, embark on your own fishing adventure, and create unforgettable memories in pursuit of the splendid crucian carp.
